Anyone longing for a classically-styled British sports car of the past, but with the improved safety and reliability of today, can look forward to the new products set to emerge from the recently-established Ant-Kahn. The name might be new in the automotive world but the people behind it certainly aren’t.
Ant-Kahn is a new coachbuilder and sports car manufacturer formed by tuning firm A. Kahn Design and niche sports car manufacturer Evanta. Together, the two firms hope to lead a resurgence in British specialist vehicle manufacturing, already with a number of projects underway.
The first product from Ant-Kahn will be a long-nose version of the iconic Land Rover Defender. Called it the Flying Huntsman, the vehicle will pack a 6.2-liter LS3 V-8 sourced from General Motors Company and tuned to deliver 550 horsepower. The engine will be mounted close to the Defender’s firewall and drive all four wheels via a six-speed automatic operated by push-button controls. A prototype is currently being tested and a reveal is set for the coming weeks.
The next product will be Ant-Kahn’s own design, a retro sports car built in the style of the classic barchetta. The new sports car, previewed above, will make its world debut at the 2014 Goodwood Revival classic car event in September and will enter production soon after. Just 20 examples are destined for production, and each will come with a LS3 under the hood good for 450 hp. They will feature custom tubular frame chassis housed in bodies made of mixed composites and Kevlar.
And if all that wasn’t enough, Ant-Kahn will also roll out a coachbuilt car based on a modern Aston Martin. Not much is known about this car but A. Kahn Design founder Afzal Kahn has previously said that its styling has been influenced by the Vanquish and offers the brutal look he considers the regular Aston Martin lineup to be lacking.
